Have you been losing weight with intermittent fasting, but find it difficult to get a workout into your routine? Do you feel that your weight would come off faster if you worked out regularly? I’ve gathered 6 Free HIIT Workout Videos for Beginners to kick off your workout routine and speed up your weight loss.

Having the motivation to workout can be difficult sometimes. Finding time with a busy schedule can make it worse. But a workout that maximizes your efforts can make every minute of activity worthwhile and motivating. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is the perfect solution. You don’t even need to exercise for an hour to achieve results!

There’s a misconception that you cannot work out while following an intermittent fasting regimen. But the opposite is true. In fact, many bodybuilders use Intermittent Fasting (IF) as part of their routine.

I go into more detail about Intermittent Fasting and Exercise in this post. But, one important thing to consider is that if you make exercise an essential component of your Intermittent Fasting regimen, you’ll dip further into fat stores while fasting.

There are different types of workouts that you can benefit from. You can lift weights or do low-intensity steady state training (LISS), like running, jogging, or biking. All have great benefits, and each is necessary for a well-rounded exercise regimen. But today I’m going to focus on high-intensity interval training.

WHAT IS HIIT?

The purpose of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is to increase your heart rate with short bursts of intense cardio. These bursts are followed by short periods of low-intensity recovery or rest.

During the high-intensity intervals, you’re supposed to be putting your maximum effort into the activity. This is a level of intensity that is not sustainable for more than one minute. Go all out!

During the low-intensity recovery periods, bring your heart rate back down into the fat burning zone. This part is very important to make your HIIT workout effective. Ultimately, you’ll burn fat faster when you do a HIIT workout.

WHEN TO USE HIIT

Free HIIT Workout Videos for Beginners - low intensity intervals

A really cool thing about HIIT training is that you continue to burn calories for hours after your workout. Isn’t this amazing??? But take caution, give your body time to recover from that intense workout.

If you exercise 5 times a week and love your cardio workouts, don’t do back to back HIIT training. Focus on low-intensity steady state training (LISS) in between your HIIT workouts. Examples of LISS training include bike riding or walking at an intensity that is sustainable for up to an hour. Big difference, right?

Keep in mind that weightlifting is wonderful for your body and great to do while Intermittent Fasting. So, ideally, you should do a bit of everything throughout the week to have a well-rounded workout routine.

Do you wonder during what point within your IF schedule you should complete HIIT workouts? Again, this post goes into more detail. But, ideally, complete your HIIT training during your feasting period. This is because you have glycogen (blood sugar) readily available for the energy required for this high-intensity workout.

Others might disagree and suggest doing a HIIT training right before ending your fast. This accomplishes two things. First, you dip further into burning your fat stores at the end of your fast. Second, you can replenish energy by eating right after your workout.

Ultimately, if you’ve been fasting and you’ve adjusted to your new eating schedule, you can work out whenever you want. Your schedule, health, and personal preferences are much more important to focus on in this situation. Figure out what option works best for you.
